MFT - 2020 Card Design Superstar - Clean & Simple Challenge

===== English translations are in dark blue =====

I'm taking a little break from my 100 Christmas Projects today to share with you the cards I made for the annual My Favorite Things' Card Design Superstar. It's the 3rd year I participate to this contest!! Rules are clear: respect the categories and use MFT product (except inks and cardstocks).

Note : MFT Stamps closed its doors in July 2025. Products remain available on clearance, among others, at this Canadian shop while stocks last.

This year, for the "Clean & Simple" category, i've started with a mask I cut for a stamp of a snowman from the "Frosty Friends" stamps set. I've also covered a portion of the card base, from each side, with an old washi tape i keep near for that. I put the snowman mask over the washi tape. Then, I used four colors of distress oxide inks to make a frosty winter sky: milled lavender, wilted violet, faded jeans and chipped sapphire. Once I have done, I removed the mask and the washi and stamp (with the MISTI, to be able to stamp again if needed) the choosen snowman with versafine onyx black ink. I've place the stamp in a way that the edge of the stamp was the closest of the start of the blending (by eye, don't go crazy with that, it doesn't have to be EXACTLY on the line!!).

I put the snowman mask again. This time, I added embossing paste through one of the card-sized confetti stencil set. I was then affraid the paste to turn blue or purple (because of the oxide ink under, designed to react with water!! *insert facepalm here*) so I added white embossing paste over the paste. Since the paste was still wet, the powder adhere to it with no problem.

I've then colored rapidly the scarf and mittens of the snowmen (basic coloring here, nothing fancy). I've embossed the sentiment on a black piece of cardstock to create a link with the embossed snow on the background. This sentiment is from the MFT's "Trio of Trees" stamps set. Card is complete!! I love that scene because I feel like the snowman is looking at the falling snow and it makes it so peaceful in my eyes.
